Breaking Ground

In the summer of 2001, the Washington, DC branch of Habitat for Humanity hosted the U.S World Leaders' Build. Initiated by former president Jimmy Carter, this extraordinary program called on leaders from all over the world to contribute their sweat equity to provide 53 new homes for local families over the next five years. As a long-time supporter of DC Habitat, PwC in greater Washington co-sponsored one of the houses at this new site with Citigroup.

A Managing Partner remarked, "I personally really enjoyed being a part of the DC Habitat Project and it is great for the Firm to be involved. Habitat provides an opportunity for the PwC team to support the community in a concrete way, where the results are clear and immediate."

According to a PwC Principal Consultant and DC Habitat board member: "The partnership that has developed between PwC and Habitat has continued to produce wonderful results." A PwC Consultant and co-leader of the project concluded: "Habitat is a great way to bond with your colleagues and your community. It was great to see people giving back to the community and working as part of a team with the same enthusiasm and dedication as they do their jobs."
