Walking the Walk

More than 40,000 people walked about 25 blocks around the Mall in Washington, DC in November, 2001 to raise money for the area's homeless in the Fannie Mae Foundation's Help the Homeless Walkathon. This was the largest fund-raiser of its kind in the country, with organizers expecting to raise over $6 million from registration fees, corporate donations, related fundraising, and earlier walks in other neighborhoods.

The PwC Team of 180 employees, friends and family, led the charge in matching maroon t-shirts. With PwC banner in hand, the Washington Area Office Managing Partner, the PwC Consulting Managing Partner, and the PwC Fannie Mae Engagement Partner steered the team around the Mall on a sparkling day. The effort was organized by the local PwC HR Director, whose tireless recruiting efforts enabled PwC walkers to raise $10,000. This was in addition to the Firm's Platinum level sponsorship of the event.
