Assignment: Financial Audit for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration NASA
Where: NASA Headquarters in Washington D.C., with visits to several NASA field centers, including the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX; the Ames Research Center in San Jose, CA; the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD; and the Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, OH. Future site visits include the Kennedy Space Center in Florida; the Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA; and the Dryden Flight Research Center in California.
Favorite thing
"In a very small way, I like to think that I am helping to improve the operations of the Federal Government. We still find problem areas where we can help them improve their overall efficiency and effectiveness."
Biggest challenge
"You can't always audit the way they teach you in college. Audits of Federal agencies weren't required prior to 1990. The systems used to produce financial statements were designed prior to the implementation of today's reporting requirements, which creates some unique reporting challenges. It's cool because you have to work through very technical issues that have been settled in the private sector, but are still emerging in the Federal market."
The value of young associates
"A lot of times recommendations come flowing out of college kids on ways to improve our clients' processes. First-year associates can make recommendations that, if executed, could actually change the operational policies of the Federal Government."
Why PwC

Looking forward
"We're going to Kennedy this year so there's a chance we'll see a launch."
